65th General Chapter 2015 Bangalore, India

The 65th General Chapter of the Ursulines of Mary Immaculate took place from August 9th -23rd 2015, at Nivedita, Bangalore ,India. There were 43 participants representing Italian and Indian provinces, Brazil Delegation, Tanzanian and Kenyan mission. The theme of the chapter “WITH EYES FIXED ON JESUS, CRUCIFIED AND RISEN, WE STRIVE TO BUILD A WORLD OF LOVE AND PEACE.” Invited the, delegates, to identify ourselves with the Foundress’ spirituality and to respond to the call of the Lord in today’s world, that is ‘to wake up the world’ in the words of Pope Francis and to become the messengers of peace and love. The delegates to the 65th Chapter had two days of silence and prayer as immediate preparation, guided by Rt. Rev. Dr. Francis Serrao S.J., Bishop of Shimoga. The official opening and inaugural Liturgy was presided by Most Rev. Dr. Bernard Moras, the Archbishop of Bangalore on 9th August, 2015. Rev. Fr. Lisbert D’Souza S.J, facilitator of our Chapter, guided and directed the delegates with his reflections, opportune interventions and sharing of valuable experiences to reflect deeply on our life and mission in the light of the Chapter theme. The Chapter elected the Superior General and Councilors General for the next six years. The following are the members elected: Sr. Elvira Mattappally - Superior General Sr.Vandana Fernandes - Assistant General Sr. Elena Scotti - Councillor General Sr. Philo George Puthiyath - Councillor General Sr. Mabel Kaithavelil - Councillor General Team 2015 The General Chapter was concluded on 23rd August 2015 with a note of thanksgiving to God and to one another for this special time of grace and blessings to our whole Congregation.
