Visit of the Superior General to the Indian Provinces

The Superior General, Sr. Elvira Mattappally along with the General Councilor & Secretary, Sr. Mabel visited the 4 Indian Provinces from January 10th to 18th July 2020. The General Treasurer, Sr. Jaya Kunnel left for India on 13th January 2020 to participate in the Inter Province Finance meeting held from 20th to 22nd January 2020 at Ursuline Provincialate Kannur. She visited the Ursuline Provincialate in Kannur and Bangalore and returned to Rome on 18th Feb 2020. Various meetings were held at Province and Inter-Province level. During these meetings, Superior General, Sister Elvira highlighted the importance of growing as integrated leaders following the example of the Lord who washed the feet of his disciples. She also stressed the need for collaboration and unity among the Provinces and to work together for the growth of the Congregation. They met the Provincial Team Team, appreciated and encouraged them for the dedicated service rendered to the Provinces and to the Congregation at large. She reminded them to respond to the signs of the present times with lot of courage and wisdom.

8th February 2020 was a day of great rejoicing, jubilation and thanksgiving as Sr. Elvira Mattappally along with her companions celebrated the golden jubilee of their religious Profession at Ursuline Provincialate Kannur. Rt. Rev. Alex Vadakunthala, the Bishop of Kannur diocese was the main celebrant of the solemn Eucharist. The day was made beautiful and memorable, with a very meaningful liturgy, well decorated chapel, melodious singing, the presence of all the Provincials and sisters from all the Provinces and the relatives of the Jubilerians.

They visited the formation houses and met the formators and formees, inspiring and encouraging them to grow deeper in their vocation and be faithful to the Lord who called them to our Ursuline family.

Due to the lock down and the travel restrictions caused by covid 19 pandemic, they had to stay longer in Vimal Sadan Provincialate, Lucknow. They returned to Rome on 18th July 2020.
